Hi, I just found your site - good job!

But I disagree with your snobby take on Oprah Magazine. I think it's great that a mainstream supermarket magazine is featuring literary authors of Diaz's stature. Oprah's fighting the good fight (see your post about the novel dying) - besides the money, I'm sure Diaz is thrilled at the opportunity to reach such a broad audience.

This is a great site. The article is timely because I posted a similar topic on my blog yesterday . Finding your site and this article assured me I'm on the right track. I'm working on my first novel and I'm amazed how much work is required to produce a quality piece, but if writing is your passion, you have to keep going!

very nice feature. Until I started working on a novel I had no clue of how much work it would be, but it is a labor of love and while it seems to non-writers to be taking an inordinately long time to complete, based on comments from writers I am within the normal range. Found your site from the Pimp Novel blog and really happy to have found it.

Ahh I love hearing stories about other writers' failures. Not because I'm a particularly mean-spirited person (only SLIGHTLY mean-spirited, you see), but because it's so reassuring to hear that Successful Writers Are Real People, Too. I keep thinking they have these magic powers wherein all they have to do is hover their fingers over their keyboards and then, voila, they have their final draft.
