Welcome to this week’s Free Book Friday, wherein we give you the best titles in indie publishing for the low low price of nothing. Congrats to last week’s winner Brandon Truett for snagging a copy of Awkward One by Awkward Press.

The Hidden Chorus by the New York Writers Coalition

This week, we are giving away a copy of The Hidden Chorus, a collection of short stories and poetry from the NY Writers Coalition’s workshops. Funny and haunting, touching  and harrowing, the stories and poetry collected in The Hidden Chorus reflect the city’s most neglected and yet most vibrant populations.

This week’s Free Book Friday is sponsored by the NY Writers Coalition (NYWC). NYWC provides free and low-cost creative writing workshops throughout New York City for people from groups that have been historically deprived of voice in our society. In the past year, NYWC operated more than 1,000 workshops in 45 locations, for the homeless and formerly homeless, war veterans, seniors, the incarcerated and formerly incarcerated, at-risk/disconnected youth and many others. NYWC also publishes their workshop participants’ writing and organizes public readings of their work. Writing with others in an atmosphere of respect and acceptance, participants discover the value of their own stories, gain confidence and a stronger sense of self and become less isolated from themselves and from society. By creating a community of writers and leaders from diverse backgrounds, NYWC galvanizes the voices of the marginalized and creates opportunities for all writers to connect with the larger community.

To enter the giveaway, all you have to do is comment in the space below or send an email directly to contact@litdrift.com. Make sure to tell us your email address so we can contact you if you win! We also recommend doing any or all of the following:

Winner will be chosen randomly at 12pm on Friday, November 13. The winner must provide his/her mailing address via email within 48 hours, or a new winner will be randomly selected.

Good luck!

Congrats to MARCELLA KOCOLATOS for winning this week! Next: From Kingsbridge to Carnasie, from the New York Writers Coalition.
