Literary Videos

JK Evanczuk / Monday, March 22, 2010 View Comments

Maybe it’s just me, but there seemed to be quite a few literary videos cropping up over the weekend. From hitchhiking Kafka cockroaches to songs about children’s literacy to an astute response to the ongoing debate over publishing’s future, I thought these videos might serve as a nice introduction to the week.

“Hitchhiking Without Thumbs” Gregor Does America: Alabama

Literary t-shirt retailer Kafkacotton celebrated the release of their On the Road-inspired shirt by sending their mascot, a 6-foot-tall cockroach named Gregor, on a hitchhiking trip. (Via.)

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: Dawn of the Dreadfuls

You’ve probably already seen this, but as far as I’m concerned we can’t have too many zombies on this blog. The trailer is also impressively well-done.

The Future of Publishing – created by DK (UK)

This has been making the rounds as well. A neat, snappy little video that tackles the ongoing discussion over the future of publishing:

Gotta Keep Reading – Ocoee Middle School

Maybe I’m feeling overly sentimental because it’s Monday and I’m tired and haven’t quite geared into my usual snarky self, but this video is warming the cockles of my little heart. Who says kids today don’t read?

Found this at The Millions and felt compelled to add this to the list–the book trailer for The House of Tomorrow by Peter Bognanni:
